Medal commemorates the 1931 Colonial Exposition held in Paris, France.
Obverse inscribed with the image of a Buddhist deity and the words "Indochine", a region consisting of Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and some parts of present-day China.
Reverse shows the temple of Angkor Wat with the inscription “Exposition Coloniale Internationale Paris 1931”.
France attempted to paint its colonial rule in a beneficial light and justify its overseas empire via this colonial exposition.
Over 8 million visitors attended. It was supposedly France's largest colonial event of the 20th century.
