This is a porcelain medal minted in WWII by Nazi Germany for their allies, Imperial Japan. It celebrates the fall of Singapore but was dated wrongly by a difference of 4 days.
British-held Singapore surrendered to Imperial Japan on 15 February 1942.
Obverse inscribed with “Capture of Singapore” from the British, with the British lion featured in the center of the medal. The reverse reads "Greater East Asia Freed from Foreign Rule” in German, a propaganda slogan used by Imperial Japan in WWII.
British Singapore was one of the crown jewels in the Far East, with almost 200,000 troops defending the island before its capitulation to a smaller Imperial Japanese army of 70,000 troops.
